The latest from Buckaroo Farms
Rick accepted a job in Sacramento with HMC Architects last fall and we hope to be moving Buckaroo Farms to the Sacramento area this spring. Until then, the critters at Buckaroo Farms are keeping us busy and as always entertained. For some reason Lillian and Pepper hatched out five adorable cygnets three months early, one didn't make it and since it’s so cold, the little cuties are currently living in a temporary brooder in the garage. We’ve named them Toulouse, Moose, Monet, and Matisse.

Danny and the Bounce
Usually safely sequestered in her temporary home in the guest bathroom bathtub, baby duckling Bouncer played outside with Danny and Wiley yesterday. All three ducks swam in the pond and dabbled the pond banks to their hearts content.
Observing their shenanigans were several Buckaroo Farms residents -- Roto and Ed just watched...
Kahuna and Kai seemed fairly interested in the newest member of the flock.
Not surprisingly, the critters that were most interested in the water play were the swan cygnets, Spooner and Willbey. Much to their chagrin, Mama Lillian was very protective of her baby swans, and when joined by Papa Pepper, the entire swan family was steered clear of the splashing and fun created by Bouncer, Danny, and Wiley.
As dusk began to close in on the happy trio, Bouncer was escorted back to the house and the rest of the Buckaroo Farms critters were put up for the night.

Danny
Danny, Sweeper, Boogie, and Wiley,
Well… our Fulvous Whistling ducks are a little high strung today since most of our Call Ducks are separated from the rest of the flock for breeding purposes. Danny, Wiley, Boogie, and Sweeper seem quite concerned about their sequestered friends and have stayed close by, circling around the enclosures and assuring their friends that all is well. Danny is, after all, the mayor of the flock. She always greets newcomers and is the first to serve as guide and counselor for any new flock member. Danny is the only duck who will walk right up and greet me. She enjoys it when I pet her and lets me pick her up. She even tolerates a momentary snuggle and then asks to be put down. Hopefully everyone will calm down soon and just loll away the wonderful spring days in harmony.
